Biography

Nicola started working at Kingston in 1999 as a research assistant to the Jean Monnet Chair. She became a full time lecturer in 2001, teaching across a number of disciplines including Public Law and Civil Liberties & Human Rights. Nicola has a particular interest in first year undergraduate study and is involved with projects on retention, widening participation and the student experience. Nicola was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in 2004 and will be using the £50,000 award to develop these interests in conjunction with colleagues at Kingston.

Domestic human rights and civil liberties

Research Interest(s)

Currently undertaking a PhD which is looking at the law about burial, cremation, exhumation, creation and maintenance of burial space, open space and convention rights. The working title is: The labyrinth that is the law of disposal of human remains: The complications, the complexities and the convention.

Teaching

Nicola is currently teaching Land Law at level 4 but has covered most of the foundation subjects in English Law.

Consultancy

Nicola is an Associate Researcher with the Centre for Law and Religion at Cardiff University
