Philip studied for his LLB at Warwick University (from which he graduated with first class honours in 1991). His MA in Socio-Legal Studies (which he was awarded with Distinction in 1992) and PhD on Natural Law theory (awarded in 1996) were both undertaken at the University of Sheffield. Philip\'s PhD thesis was published as The Distinction Between Law and Ethics in Natural Law Theory, by Edwin Mellen Press in 2002. Prior to taking up his lecturing post at Kingston in 1997, Philip taught part-time during the period of his doctoral studies at the Universities of Sheffield, Hull and Warwick.
Philip has given research papers in the area of Law and Social Theory at the annual Socio-Legal, Critical Legal and Society of Legal Scholars Conferences and has been a book reviewer for the Law Teacher Journal. He is currently researching in the area of Law and Immigration with Constantina Sampani, a solicitor who is in the process of completing a PhD at QMW London.
