Careers and employability

The University’s Careers and Employability Team provides careers and employment support to Kingston Business School students and recent graduates through hands-on, practical training and events combined with strong relationships with major and local employers and alumni.

The team are not only here to help you with that all important CV, they also offer so much more including a range of employer events which allow you to explore careers in sectors you may not have considered and events which give a deeper insight into roles within specific areas of study. 

Employability Co-ordinator

From the moment you join Kingston Business School you will have access to an Employability Coordinator who works with the Faculty of Business and Law. The coordinator works directly with students, academics, management and employers to help you with CVs and application forms and is available to discuss your options in pursuing your chosen career.

Developing your job-seeking skills

To ensure you stand out from the crowd when you are applying for a job, you can take advantage of workshops and schemes such as:

  • CV labs
  • application sessions
  • interview skills psychometric testing
  • presentation skills
  • cover letters
  • mentoring scheme for final year students

Careers events

During your time at Kingston Business School you will be able to attend events which can give you an overview of careers options in an industry sector or which focus on the employment options within specific areas of study. Recently the Careers and Employability Team have held events such as:

  • Spotlight on human resource management (HRM)
  • Spotlight on marketing
  • JobStart Business
  • Banking and Finance Careers Uncovered
  • Retail Careers Uncovered

Some of the employers the Careers and Employability Team works with include: Tesco, Enterprise Rent A Car, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Unilever, FDM, BSkyB, Dairy Crest, United Biscuits, HSBC, Menzies LLP, KPMG, BlackRock, The Body Shop, Lightspeed Research,  Saatchi & Saatchi x, BT.


To further enhance your CV and improve your business and entrepreneurial skills, you can also take part in various internal and national competitions. The Faculty of Business and Law enters teams into the annual Business School University Trader Challenge (which the Business School won in December 2011), CIMA Global Business Challenge and IBM Universities Business Challenge. Within the School we also run a mock Apprentice Scheme.
